Weekly Round Up
●St Finian’s Junior TeamAFL 10
Opposition: - St Marks, McGee Park Tallaght Sunday 20.03.2022 @3
Played with the aid of a breeze in the first half.
Got off to a good start scoring 02-08 with scores from Jamie Furey, Barry McInerney, Emmet O’Haire, Carl Fox & Mark Bennett.
We suffered through not winning breaking ball and allowing overlaps to come at our defence. Conceded 03-03 in this half.
The first goal was a long speculative shot that ended up in the top corner and we conceded a further two goals through poor defending by all players not just the defenders.
We were up by two points at half time 02-08 to 03-03
We woke up in the second half and rectified some of the mistakes of the first half in particular winning breaking ball which put us on the front foot.
The intensity and determination came to the fore in this half and we played very well as a team with good communication and movement across the whole pitch.
We scored 01-09 in this half with scores coming from Ken Nagle, Mark Bennett, Geoff Tracey, Carl Fox & Alan Swan.
Through the intensity and application mentioned above we only conceded 0-2 in this half and great credit has to go to the keeper Abul Hasan who made two great saves and was aided heroically by the full back line of Ciaran Murphy, Philip Byrne & David O’Rourke.
The half back line of Ciaran Murphy, Aran Byrne and Carl Fox contributed extremely well to both attack and defence.
We also used the full panel resulting in Ken Nagle, Aaron Kelly & Feargal Murray coming on and playing their part in this win.
The final winning score was 03-17 to 03-05
